Astro Color Mixer v0.9.7.28

October 17, 2026

This maintenance release completes the Mac/Windows user-accepted color-management correction and updates About, FAQ, Technical Appendix, packaged help, and installer notes. It supersedes the Dropbox-only v0.9.7.27-beta artifact without changing that existing file.

Normal image previews now use the selected source window’s native color-management transform. Match the app’s image-window CM selector to the source window’s Enable Color Management switch. The selector affects display only: the same adjustments produce identical output pixels and the same preserved source ICC profile with the selector on or off. Image and display profiles determine how visible that difference is. Numeric masks and diagnostic maps retain their established rendering policy.

New RGB outputs preserve the source ICC profile, RGB working space, keywords, and available full-frame astrometry. A strict temporary JPEG carries only ICC metadata; its pixels are never used. JPEG accuracy/storage warnings do not indicate precision loss in the result: actual output samples use lossless Float32 XISF with equality checks. New result windows open as copies; use Save As. Loading policies are restored after the synchronous transfer. Extra temporary disk I/O is required; ICC capture supports source dimensions up to 65535 pixels per side. Apply to Target keeps its existing sample-write path.

Use Update preview after source ICC or proofing changes. Original, Adjusted, Last Pass, Fit, and detail displays use the source-aware rendering helper. Editable Script history restores the full ordered pass recipe without automatically applying it or writing an image. Review the restored source and mask references, edit settings or use Save Set, and restore the pre-operation target state before applying again. Preserve the original source, mask image, and matching script. ACM replay now accepts the current 0.9.7.28 release identifier and the explicitly supported older beta/color-test identifiers. Adjustment algorithms, masks, sliders, and processing defaults are unchanged.

The stable menu is Script > Cosgrove’s Cosmos > Astro Color Mixer. Requires PixInsight 1.9.4 or newer; no native companion is required.

Astro Contrast Enhancer v0.9.621

October 17, 2026

This release finalizes the Mac/Windows user-accepted color correction and includes the processing/history fixes accumulated since the public v0.9.617 release. The underlying processing is the accepted v0.9.620 consistency baseline.

Fixes included from the development baseline

Color-management correction

Main, detail, before/after, selection-detail, loupe, and photographic Before references in diagnostic views receive image display transforms on copies. The latter comparison case was closed during final documentation review and is covered by the final native suite. Numeric maps themselves remain unchanged. Use Refresh CM after monitor/proofing changes; reload the target before output after source ICC or pixel changes.

About, FAQ, Technical Appendix, packaged help, and installer notes cover both the baseline fixes and color correction. The stable menu is Script > Cosgrove’s Cosmos > Astro Contrast Enhancer. Requires PixInsight 1.9.4 or newer; no native companion is required.
